He lives Abroad and He has not attended the Friday Prayer for Two Years

Question :

He says that he is studying abroad in the United States and they do not have any mosques and so he has not attended the Friday prayer for two years. What is the ruling?

Answer:

One who is studying abroad falls into the category of a resident, so he must offer the Friday prayer, if he finds a congregation of residents. So if you are three or more in number, then you must offer the Friday prayer in a house, a park or any other place. One of you should make the Athan and the most knowledgeable of you in the Qur'an should deliver the sermon and lead you in prayer, according to the Words of Allah, the Most High:

O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed for the Salah (prayer) on Friday (Jumu'ah prayer), hasten to the remembrance of Allah [Jumu'ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salah (prayer)].

The Prophet did not specify a minimum number of worshippers in the Friday prayer, although it is known from his Sunnah and from the consensus of the scholars that it is not established unless there is a congregation. And in the establishment of the Friday prayer are many benefits for those who establish it and for the Muslims in general.
